Breckenridge History: Train arriving

Breckenridge Historic Tours – A Year Round Activity Perfect for the Whole Family!

Historic Downtown Breckenridge We the staff at Breckenridge Grand Vacations are constantly trying to find ways we can improve ourselves and create a better experience for our guests. We are always looking to get that “edge” that will separate us from our competition and truly create great and lasting vacation memories. To this end every month our staff sometimes as a whole company and sometimes by department take part in what we GVS or Great Vacation Sessions. These GVS’s can be a meeting where we discuss ways to improve customer service or a trivia game put on by Rob, one of our three owners where we answer trivia questions about Breckenridge and Breckenridge Grand Vacations.

Today our department took a walking tour of Breckenridge for our GVS and we really impressed at how much fun we had. The Breckenridge Heritage Alliance puts on historic walking tours in a variety of locations. They have some really amazing tour guides who have a deep knowledge of Breckenridge’s history and are very funny and entertaining. We did our walking tour with Mike, a 34 year resident who loves skiing and history. He took us on a tour that highlighted Barney Ford; Breckenridge’s prominent African American citizen who had a huge impact on Breckenridge and Colorado, Tom’s Baby; a 13 pound gold nugget that “got lost” and was later found 5 pounds lighter 82 years later and the last gunfight in Breckenridge that took place in Breckenridge in 1962.

These stories among others entertained us for the better part of an hour and a half while we walked around Breckenridge’s town core viewing the living history that is Breckenridge’s impressive historic district. We highly recommend taking a historic walking tour of Breckenridge when you visit. You will not come away disappointed and you will probably come away with a little more knowledge about Breckenridge’s rich history as well. Visit to learn more about Breckenridge’s history and book your historic walking tour of Breckenridge.
