Parking in Breckenridge

Before driving into town, be sure to check the official event information page. We highly recommend carpooling, biking, walking, or using the Free Ride bus system to avoid parking altogether. However, we understand that isn’t always convenient. If you choose to drive to Breckenridge for a festival or event, here are a few helpful tips:

  • Two-hour free parking is available in select areas along French Street and in designated lots.
  • Download the Passport Parking app for convenient payment and to monitor your remaining time.
    • We strongly suggest setting an alarm on your phone or watch to remind you when it’s time to extend your parking session.
  • Visit the Breck Park website to explore parking lot locations, view pricing by area, and check for closures.

General Do’s and Don’ts

DO

  • Take advantage of free transportation. Avoid the hassle of parking, save some money, and help the environment.
  • Wear sunscreen and other sun protection. With Main Street sitting at 9,600 feet in elevation, the sun is strong!
  • Check the weather forecast. Mountain weather can change on a dime. Toss in a rain jacket or umbrella if there’s even a slight chance of clouds or rain.

DON’T

  • Park illegally or without checking signs. Many homes are close to town. Double check that you’re not blocking a driveway or parking in an employee-only lot.
  • Approach wildlife. It’s highly common in the summer to see a moose enjoying a snack around town or a fox crossing the street. Take photos and enjoy the moment—from a safe distance!
  • Litter. Help keep our streets and trails trash-free by using the trash and recycling bins around town.

What to Bring and Other Things to Consider

  • Layers. Even in the summer, temperatures can drop quickly especially if it’s windy.
  • Comfortable walking shoes. Depending on which event you’re attending, you might want to consider choosing substance over style.
  • Backpack. The easiest way to stay hands-free and carry your sunscreen, layers, or picnic blanket.
  • Be respectful. Breckenridge is a working mountain town and a home to many. Kindness and patience go a long way.
