Fall for Breck this year and treat yourself to a vibrant getaway in the mountains. September and October are prime “leaf-peeping” months when the aspens turn into a firey color explosion splaying across the hillsides. We suggest taking a hike to see the trees or perhaps a drive to one of the top 5 leaf-peeping spots in Breck.

1.) Boreas Pass

Boreas Pass is one of the best drives in Breckenridge to experience the changing Aspen trees in Breckenridge. This gravel road twists through aspen groves that takes you up to the continental divide above tree line for a promising view. Make sure to bring an off – road car, this dirt road is not ideal for cars. Take Highway 9 through Breckenridge and then turn left on Boreas Pass road.

2.) Aspen Alley

There is a reason this trail is called “Aspen Alley” it is a short hike (about 1.3 miles) but connects to two other trails to make it as long or as short as you want! This trail is filled with mountain bikers and is the perfect spot to peep some leaves. Watch your entire surroundings get immersed in some of the most dense Aspen trees on this trail.

3.) Hoosier Pass

itting at 11,542 feet elevation this drive offers a great fall drive to experience changing leaves. This high mountain pass sits on the continental Divide that winds from Breckenridge to Fairplay. Take Highway 9 from Breckenridge through Blue River and onto Hoosier Pass.

4.) Sallie Barber Mine Trail

This trail has endless Aspens to look out at and is a great hike with prefect views of Breckenridge Ski Resort. This trail also leads up to the historic Sallie Barber Mine. This trail also connects to many others but is considered a “out and back” trail.

5.) Illinois Gulch

This trail is another great option for enjoying some fall leaves on a sunny say. This trail can also connect to Aspen Alley if you are looking for a longer outdoor experience. This trail is 1.9 miles and is moderately flat and easy.
