Spring Fever Events for This Week

Colored Easter EggsSpring Fever is in full effect and after two weekends of top notch performances there will be a break in the Peak 8 concerts this weekend. Instead there will be a focus on Easter.

Weekly Comedy Night
When: Thursday, April 5th 7 p.m.
Where: The Base Nine Bar and Grill in Beaver Run
Info: This week’s Comedy Night features host Chuck Roy and Headliner, Adam Cayton Holland. Despite being born into a white, upper-middle class family, Adam is a national touring headliner and plays clubs and colleges all over the country. He has performed on such illustrious, indie shows as Comedy Bang Bang and Meltdown in Los Angeles. His writing has appeared in the Onion’s A.V. Club and Spin Magazine.

Annual Sidewalk Sale
When:  April 6th, 7th & 8th

Breck 5 til 5 Terrain Park Happy Hour Presented by Freeskier and Snowboard Magazine
When: Friday, April 6th, 2 p.m. – 5 p.m.
Where: Park Lane Terrain Park
Info: The popular weekly event 5 til 5 lets park riders cruise Park Lane until 5:00 pm.  With free food, beverages, music, giveaways and jam style contests – come kick it all afternoon.  Win prizes including gear from Faction, Never Summer, Nike 6.0, Dragon, Smith, Vans, and of course season passes from your friends here at Breck!

Golden Easter Egg Hunt
When:  Saturday, April 7th
Where: Shops around Breckenridge and in the Blur River Plaza
Info: Eggs filled with candy and coupons will be hidden at participating businesses and in the Blue River Plaza. There will also be “Golden Eggs” that will contain cash vouchers that can be redeemed at the Breckenridge Welcome Center. Look for advertisements in the Summit Daily News. Also join the Easter Bunny on Saturday, April 7 at 5 pm. in the Blue River Plaza.

21st Annual Great Egg Scramble
When: Saturday, April 7th
Where: Breckenridge Recreation Center
Info: Breckenridge Recreation Department presents the 21st Annual Great Egg Scramble! Get your picture taken with the Breckenridge Bunny and scramble for eggs at the Recreation Center! The Great Egg Scramble also includes prize giveaways and goody bags for every child. Our inflatable jungle and obstacle course will also be set up on the tennis courts for jumping fun in between scrambles! Make sure to arrive on time and don’t forget to bring your camera and basket for collecting your eggs! All ages welcome, however egg scrambles are for ages 0-10. Registration is not required and this is a free event.

Rockstar Throwback Throwdown Pipe Competition
When: Saturday, April 7
Where: Breckenridge’s Peak 8
Info: Come check out the inaugural Rockstar “Then and Now” throwback halfpipe competition. Watch as pro snowboarders compete for a $10,000 prize purse and take part in two events: competing in the 22-foot halfpipe and then a specially constructed 6-foot mini-pipe that is an exact replica of the first one built at Breck in 1985. In the small halfpipe tricks no more than 540 degrees of rotation will be allowed,  so each rider will have to get creative with straight airs, alley oops, huge slow spins, and hand plants in honor of Breckenridge’s historic 50th Anniversary Season.

5 Peaks Mountaineering Race
When: Saturday, April 7 at 6:30 a.m.
Where: Breckenridge Ski Resort
Info: 5 Peaks is North America’s longest ski mountaineering race, with 10,000 feet of vertical and five separate ascents in the Ten Mile Range behind Breckenridge Ski Resort. Eighty teams of two will skin, climb, ski, and traverse Peaks 10, 9, 8 (from two sides) and 7.
