Great Rubber Duck Races – For the 24th year, The Summit Foundation will drop some 10,000 rubber ducks into the Blue River for a fundraiser race that includes a variety of duck categories. Prizes include a one-week vacation, pontoon boat rentals on Lake Dillon, kids’ season ski pass and more.

Breckenridge Wine Festival – The Breckenridge Wine Festival combines vino from around the world with live music and food, all served up at the starting area for the duck races. Tickets cost $20 and include entry, commemorative wine glass, 10 tasting tickets and one duck in the races, which start at Main Street Station.

36th Annual Gathering at the Great Divide Art Festival – A nationally-ranked art show, the Gathering at the Great Divide features over 100 artists showcasing a variety of media including photography, wood, glass, ceramics and more. The three-day show takes place in the Wellington Lot, located at the intersection of Main Street and Wellington Road.

Breckenridge Merchants’ Sidewalk Sale Days – Breckenridge stores open their doors for a four-day sidewalk sale. Stock up in preparation for snow or scout for deals on summer wares. Over 150 shopping options give guests and locals plenty of retail choices.

Breck Crest trail races – Marathon and half-marathon courses top out above tree line, and the five mile course offers a shorter option. All routes feature stunning views from the peaks of the Tenmile Range. Aside from the start/finish sections, courses are on soft surface trails and service roads.

Take A Hike!

A view from Mohawk LakeThere are plenty of things to do in Breckenridge, CO before the summer comes to an end, and we recommend taking a hike!  While many of the Breckenridge hiking options range in difficulty, there are plenty of beginner and intermediate trails that typically satisfy the average hiker.  One such hike is the popular Mohawk Lakes, as it is an intermediate level hike that sums up everything magnificent about the beautiful landscape that our mountain town has to offer.  A hike to Mohawk Lakes offers the opportunity to experience sweeping vistas, historic ruins and ore cars to waterfalls and close-up views of massive, rugged peaks.   Here’s a quick summary of the Mohawk Lakes Trail:

Open:   July through September
Elevation:  12,100 feet
Time:  2-3 hours roundtrip
Distance:   1.2 miles or 2.8 miles
Directions: Drive south out of Breckenridge on Highway 9. At about 2.4 miles from the last traffic light as you leave Breckenridge, turn right on Spruce Creek Road and proceed for about 1.2 miles to a well marked parking area and trailhead.
